Since the first stepping onto the moon for human kind in July 21, 1969, Omega suprasetter chronometer has become one of the indispensible equipment of the astronauts. The Omega suprasetter chronometer is the kind of watches that are specially designed to fit for wearing to the moon. At present, Omega is launching a special edition that is made of platinum, the endurable and precious jewelry material to commemorate that moment when men stepped onto the moon.
This special edition is featuring all platinum. From the case to the strap all are made of platinum. It is a limited edition too, with the world limited circulation of 69 pieces. Each piece has a unique serial number on the dial badge and the marking of Apollo 11.
The case: As mentioned above, the case is made of platinum, including the bottom. It is round with a bezel marked with speed measuring markings.
The dial: The dial is black, with three sub-dials. The pointers are strip like. Both the pointers and the markings are specially handled by fluorescent materials so that they could be viewed even in a dark environment.
The clock mechanism: It is the Calibre 1861 manual winding clock mechanism from the 1969 original Omega suprasetter chronometer Calibre 321.
The functions: As a chronograph, it displays the hour, the minute and the second all at the same time.
This Omega Suprasetter Chronometer platinum special edition is one of those masterpieces that Omega has made to stand itself in the glittering market of platinum watches.
